Title: Serial or USB Post by geneschneider on Aug 12th, 2008, 6:42am This may be a dumb question but I need to ask it anyway. I run two applications off the same serial data. I use a serial splitter cable and then two serial to usb converters. (My laptop has no serial ports) I then plug the usb's into Com 4 and Com 5. Would I purchase the Serial-Port-Splitter program or one of the USB programs? |

Title: Re: Serial or USB Post by geneschneider on Aug 13th, 2008, 4:41am From receiver, it is a serial 9 pin, then 9 pin splitter to two 9 pin to usb convertors, then into Com 4 and Com 5. |

Title: Re: Serial or USB Post by Keith on Aug 18th, 2008, 6:39am Hello! I am sorry for the delay. Please take a look on this picture. We recommend you to simplify your scheme using our Serial Port Splitter solution. It allows you to share one serial port among several applications. http://fabulatech.com/img/uploads/usb-ser-srl-device.gif Free trial is available by this link http://fabulatech.com/serial-port-splitter.zip |

Title: Re: Serial or USB Post by geneschneider on Aug 18th, 2008, 7:13am Forgive me, but let me make sure I understand what you are asking. Go from my device (receiver) through the Serial to USB converter, then into a single USB port. It is there that your software creates two virtual com ports (in this case USB ports) which both of the applications can use simultaneously. Is that correct? Thanks for all your patience... |

Title: Re: Serial or USB Post by Keith on Sep 2nd, 2008, 5:46am Actually, Serial Port Splitter allows you to split one virtual serial port to several separate virtual serial ports. Please see the scheme below http://fabulatech.com/img/uploads/sps-splitting.gif So, we offer you to try our software solution instead of your hardware serial splitter cable. |
